Doodlebug Song Lyric Tutorial - Folded Chevron Card

Hello all - Tya here with a fun folded card tutorial that I think you will all love to re-create. I love adding little personal touches to cards so when we were given the assignment to use love song lyrics on a project I knew I had the perfect set of photos that I wanted to use of me with each one of my children. I wanted to give them a little memento of this fun photo shoot to have of their own.
I chose to do song lyrics from one of my favorite animated movies - Disney's Tarzan. The song I chose was "You'll Be In My Heart". It was a very fitting song for the photos I thought :)

Inside of card

Here is what you will need to create one of these fun cards for your own:
(1) 5 1/2 x12 piece of black cardstock
(1) 5 1/2  x 12 piece of Lovebirds Darling Dot Paper
(1) 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 piece of white cardstock
(1) 3 1/2 x 4 piece of black cardstock
(1) 1 1/2 x 6 piece of Lovebirds Key to my Heart Paper
(1) 1 1/2 x 12 piece of Lovebirds Key to my Heart Paper
(1) 3 3/4 inch white doily
Label made on Silhouette machine using die cut labels and the Print and Cut function
Special Delivery Doodlepop
Valentines Mini Doodlepop
Bubblegum Heart Pearls
Lovebird Journal Stickers
Lily White Love Letters Cardstock Stickers
Beetle Black Teensy Type Stickers
Doodle Twine Ladybug
Shiny Grey ink

Here are the steps to make this card:
Step 1-
With a scoring tool, take the 5 1/2  x 12 inch papers. On the 12 inch side you will score each sheet at 2,4, 8 and 10 inches.

Step 2:
On the 5 1/2  inch side make a mark with a pencil at the 2 3/4 inch mark on both sides of the paper. Do this for both papers.

Step 3:
Fold on the scored lines as shown.
Step 4:
On your scoring board or trimmer, to make the diagonal scored lines for the top of the card you will need to line the mark that you made at 2 3/4 mark and the SECOND mark you scored (the one closest to the middle of the card.) Score at these two marks as shown on both sides and on each papers.

Step 5:
Trim the diagonal scored marks on both sheets of papers as shown.

Step 6:
Next, here are the steps to add the cool "chevron" layers to the card. You will take the pieces shown in the red pattern paper and layer them onto the black cardstock as shown:

Add these to the outside of the card

These small points go on the inside of the card

This is what the card with look like after you have added the red pattern paper to the black cardstock - pretty cool isn't it ?

Step 7:
Add the white, and black cardstock. Add a 3x3 inch photo to the inside. If you didn't want to add a photo you could add a sentiment here instead. Add ladybug twine around the bottom of the picture. Add the Doodlepops, journaling tag and and the pearls and teeny type letter stickers to this section as shown:
Step 8:
Make a belly band by taking the 1 1/2 x 12 inch paper and scoring at 4 and at 8 inches.
Step 9:
Add the white doily folded in half to the belly band and them add the label. I like to use a shimmery grey ink pad and a soft tissue to add some "chalkboard" effects to my black paper just for fun. I love the effect it gives black papers.Add some adhesive to the back sections of the belly band. Don't make it too tight - just snug enough so it slips easily on and off the card base. Slip the belly band over the card base as shown.

Thanks for joining me today! Have fun making one of these fun cards for your own special someone!

Scor-Pal and Simple Stories - Money Roll Box

Hello all! I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved working with my Scor-Pal and Simple Stories. Definitely one of my favorite companies as of late! I was happy to be able to work with the fun and funky and masculine line called Awesome - and indeed it was!

It is really hard to find a really cool and hip "masculine" line- Awesome was just the line I was looking for when I was trying to think of a clever way to give my 12 year old son some birthday cash! So I came up with this fun box I call a Money Roll box - Here's a little peek and then the tutorial on how to make one of your own.

Supplies:
Scor-Pal Tool
Scor Tape 1/4 inch
Simple Stories Awesome Paper and Sticker Collection
Cardstock cut to 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 (kraft)
Cardstock cut to 4x6 (green)
Cardstock cut to 1 1/2 x 12  (green)
1 1/2 x 2 3/4 blue pattern paper banner
Buttons
Twine
Money :)

Step 1-
On the 9 1/2 inch side, score the paper at 1, 2 3/4, 6 3/4, and 8 1/2 inches
Step 2-
on 7 1/2 inch side, score the paper at 1 3/4 , 3 1/2,  5 1/4 and 7 inches
Step 3-
Cut the box as shown below - cut away the diagonal striped sections, cut on the solid black line sections, and fold on the dotted lines.

Cut a slit in the 2nd from the bottom center section about 1/8th of and inch by 2 3/4 inches across.
Step 4-
Line up the bills of money that you want to use, end to end and tape together .
Step 5-
Add adhesive to the tabs as shown and then tape these sides in
On the underside of the box you will need to roll the dollar bills up and then place one of the bills up through the slit on the top.( Make sure you have the right side of the bill that you want facing out)
Notice that I wanted to have the face side of the bill facing forward and so I fed the bills through this way. Here is what the bills and box will look like before we decorate it :)
Step 6-
To decorate the box I added the 4x6 inch green cardstock to the back of the box. I added one of the 4x6 cards from the collection to the cardstock ( had to trim it down just a bit to 3 3/4 x 5 3/4 so it will fit.)
Add the blue banner to the top left section  along with the stickers and buttons tied with twine.
Add a sticker to the top of the money for a fun pull tab.
Add the 1 1/2 x 12 inch green cardstock around the box. Add the gear long border sticker to the green cardstock. Add the guitar, the "U" and the "Rock" sticker to the front of the box as well.

Thanks for joining me and Happy Scoring!
