Santa Express 12x12 Gift Bag Tutorial

Hi there Doodlebug friends! I am here to share with you a fun and festive tutorial on how to make a nifty gift bag from just 2 sheets of your favorite papers from Doodlebug Design's new Santa Express line.
It never seems to fail- every year I seem to always run out of gift bags and the LAST place that I want to go during the hustle and bustle of the holidays is back to the store. Why head to the store when I have oodles of darling paper right at my finger tips that would look great as a gift bag? With that being said - let me share with you this fun (and easy!) tutorial on how you can make a gift bag of your very own!

This bag is made using 2 of the same pieces of pattern paper - or you can use cardstock as well. The scoring measurements are the same for both pieces of paper.

Basically you score both of the papers on 3 sides at 3 inches, and then on 1 side at 2 inches. Here is what the paper with look like with the score marks when you are done.

 Side 1 - score at 3 inches
Side 2 - turn paper and score at 3 inches
Side 3- turn paper again and score at 3 inches
Side 4 - Turn paper on last side. This is the 2 inch scored side.

Now go ahead and fold that top 2 inch strip down to make the top section of the bag. I love that I get to use BOTH SIDES of my paper! The hardest part was choosing which side I wanted to show where!
On both pieces of paper - fold on all of your lines and then trim on the scored lines as show above.Just snip up to the bottom scored line.
Add adhesive to the 2 bottom flaps as shown.

Glue the box together as shown.

On the other sheet of paper add adhesive to the bottom and the sides of the paper. This paper is going to slide into the other one so we need the outside edges to be sticky :)
Here is the box all glued together.
Now take a hole punch like a Crop-A-Dile and punch 2 holes on each side.

Add your  favorite ribbon or trim for the bag handles.
Now for the fun part - Decorate it however you like. I added some tags from the Christmas tag craft kit. I also added some stickers from the This and That sheet and the Icon sticker sheet. I finished my tags off with a bit of the Holly Berries Sprinkle Shapes.

Now add your gift and tissue paper and any other goodies you'd like and just like that you have a custom made gift bag I am sure your recipient will love because YOU made it just for them. Happy Holidays and Happy Crafting everyone!

Wow! Where has October gotten to? I can't believe the month is half way over!  I am always on the lookout for quick and easy holiday decor during this very busy time of year so when I saw Lori's darling Cute Spooks line at Snap Click Supply , I knew I had to whip this cute door hanger up for some Halloween decor. It took me no time at all to make this little beauty since all of the icons and titles were already done up for me! All I had to do was upload the files onto my Silhouette software and I had a fun home decor piece done in under an hour! Let me show you what I did-

I used these files to make my door hanger:
-Cute Spooks Collection from Snap Click Supply
-Googly eyes, ribbon, twine and buttons for embellishment

I added some googly eyes to already cute witch and Frankenstein shapes for some added fun. I also added a creepy little spider button to the title as well.

I cut 2 of the Trick or Treat titles, witches and Frankenstein shapes out and placed them on top of the flat shape .I pop dotted them up for some added dimension. I love using my Print and Cut feature on my Silhouette Cameo to make my own die cut shapes from digital designs - it is soo easy! And fun!
That's all there is to it! If you haven't gotten a chance to download one of Lori's darling digital files there are so many fun files to choose from! Today only (10/14/2014) - you can head over to Snap Click Supply and receive 30 % off her files - what a deal!

Hop on over to Lori's online shop and at Snap Click Supply to take advantage of some more of  these awesome deals!

Hi There Friends -I am  here to show you this super fun mini album that I made using Doodlebug Design's Friendly Forest line. I am going to fill it  with photos and memories of all the things that I am thankful for. This will be great to put out over the holidays to look at.

I used a beautiful teal plastic frame that I picked up at my local Michael's Store. I took the plastic center section out so the pages could flip easily. The pages are 3 1/4 x  5 and fit perfectly in this 4x6 size frame. I punched to holes in the tops of my pages and added 1 inch book rings to hang the pages on.

Here are the inside pages. I loved using all sorts of different techniques on my pages. From pocket pages to little flaps that you can lift up - I love adding lots of fun variations to my mini albums.

I made a fun flip up feature on this page using my papers and a piece of washi tape to hide the purple cardstock where you could add a photo or a journaling spot.

On this one I used a doily that I cut in half and wrapped the edges around the paper to make a
neat pocket.

These big leaf and acorn shapes from the Friendly Forest Craft kit were perfect for this page
One last pocket page with a colorful clothespin used as the pull feature.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this cute twist on a mini album. I love that it comes with its own stand! Such a fun feature! Have a wonderful day and Happy Creating!
